President Trump Thursday ordered U.S. flags to be flown at half-staff out of respect for the victims of the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
In a proclamation, the president said the nation “grieves with those who have lost loved ones in the shooting.”
Seventeen people were killed and 14 others wounded when a 19-year-old male opened fire with an AR-15 Wednesday afternoon at the school. The gunman, who had been expelled from the school, was later taken into custody.
Flags at all U.S. public buildings, military installations and embassies will be flown at half-staff until sunset on Monday.
