INKERMAN, Pa. (AP) - Geisinger Health System has announced plans to relocate hundreds of employees to a new building in northeastern Pennsylvania.

The company said more than 500 support service employees from across Lackawanna and Luzerne counties will be moved to the three-story building at CenterPoint Commerce and Trade Park in Jenkins Township.

The move, which will begin late this year or early next year, includes 280 workers relocating from rented space in downtown Wilkes-Barre (WILKS’-ba-ree).

It’s part of an expansion for the Danville-based health services organization, which employs more than 7,100 people in its northeast region.

Geisinger serves 45 counties in central, south-central and northeastern Pennsylvania, and also has a presence in southern New Jersey. The organization operates 13 hospital campuses, two research centers, and a 583,000-member health plan.
