RENO, Nev. (AP) - Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve (SHEE’-vee) is asking the city to invest in a misconduct hotline.
The Reno Gazette Journal reports that city employees would be able to register complaints about anything from sexual harassment to waste, fraud and abuse under the proposal the city is tentatively scheduled to consider on Wednesday.
The mayor’s plan comes on the heels of criticism about the way the city has handled a series of complaints about sexual misconduct and allegations of retaliation against city employees.
At Schieve’s request, City Manager Sabra Newby already has acquired the number 866-RNO-TIPS. It would be available 24 hours a day to receive complaints from employees who want to remain anonymous as well as those who are comfortable leaving their contact information.
