SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - A police detective in eastern Washington has been placed on administrative leave following his arrest for suspected drunken driving.

The Spokesman-Review reports Spokane police Detective Kirk Kimberly was arrested Saturday night after he was stopped by a Washington State Patrol trooper who clocked him speeding.

According to records of his arrest, Kimberly was cited for driving under the influence after a breathalyzer test determined his blood alcohol content was 0.113 percent. The legal limit is 0.08 percent in Washington.

Spokane officials say Kimberly was not on duty at the time.

The police department says he was placed on leave while the department’s internal affairs division conducts an investigation.

Kimberly pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor offense in Spokane County court on Monday.
