Donald Trump Jr.’s wife is thanking New York’s police and fire departments, the FBI and the Secret Service for their help after she opened an envelope containing white powder.
In a statement posted on Twitter Monday night, Vanessa Trump said she appreciated “the quick response” to make sure she was safe.
Police say President Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law felt ill after opening the envelope at her mother’s apartment Monday morning. She was hospitalized as a precaution. Police said the power was not considered dangerous.

Donald Trump Jr. says he’s thankful that his wife and children are “safe and unharmed” after an envelope containing white powder was sent to his mother-in-law’s New York City apartment.
Police say his wife, Vanessa Trump, felt ill after opening the envelope at her mother’s apartment Monday morning. She was hospitalized as a precaution. Police said the power was not considered dangerous.
In a statement posted on Twitter, the Republican president’s son said the incident was “truly disgusting.”
Detectives from the New York Police Department’s intelligence division and Secret Service agents are investigating.
Secret Service Special Agent Jeffrey Adams acknowledged the suspicious mailing but declined to give details.

Police say Donald Trump Jr.’s wife opened an envelope that contained white powder, felt ill and was taken to New York City hospital as a precaution.
A police department spokesman says a preliminary test of the powder indicated it wasn’t dangerous.
They say Vanessa Trump called 911 Monday morning after opening a letter at her mother’s apartment Monday morning. Police say she said she was coughing and felt nauseous.
The Trump Organization didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. It’s unclear what the powder was.
Detectives from the New York Police Department’s intelligence division and Secret Service agents are investigating. A spokeswoman for the Secret Service hasn’t responded to a request for comment.
