JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Police say a man has been charged with kidnapping after a teenage girl was released unharmed in Mississippi.

Jackson police spokesman Roderick Holmes tells The Clarion-Ledger in a statement that 20-year-old Illya Lawson was arrested Saturday night and charged in the Friday morning incident. Holmes says the 17-year-old girl had been reported by a parent as being abducted.

Officers were told the girl was waiting for the school bus to arrive when a man forced her into a dark-colored vehicle. The man drove her around before releasing her near her school.

It is unclear if Lawson has a lawyer.
