SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - The Utah Court of Appeals has upheld a jury award of over $2.3 million to Target Corp. and a shopping mall’s owners for damages from construction of a new Interstate 15 interchange in Utah County.

A small part of a freeway interchange in American Fork was built on land that the state condemned and took from Target and the Alpine Valley Shopping Center’s owners, and their lawsuit contended that the design of the interchange prevents motorists from seeing the shopping center.

The Department of Transportation appealed but the Court of Appeals’ ruling Friday lets the jury’s award stand.
