HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. (AP) - Tyler Sharpe hit two 3-pointers in the closing minutes Saturday night to secure Northern Kentucky’s fifth straight win, an 86-80 victory over Green Bay that moved the Norse into sole possession of first-place in the Horizon League.
Northern Kentucky entered the game tied with Wright State for first place, but the Raiders were upset by Milwaukee, 74-73, leaving the Norse alone in first place.
The home game served as the kick-off to the school’s 50th anniversary celebration.
Sharpe finished with 5 3-pointers and 19 points to lead Northern Kentucky (19-7, 12-2). Lavone Holland II had 16 points and Drew McDonald added 12 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. The Norse had 17 assists on 29 made baskets and outrebounded the Phoenix 43-31.
Khalil Small scored 20 points to lead Green Bay (10-18, 5-10). Sandy Cohen III scored 18 points and T.J. Parham scored 16.
