YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) - Youngstown State University’s trustees and its president have agreed to extend his contract through June 2020.

The university’s Board of Trustees and President Jim Tressel recently agreed to the one-year extension. Board Chair Dee Crawford said in a statement that the former Ohio State University football coach has “excelled” in leading the university the past four years.

Tressel was named YSU’s ninth president in 2014 and signed a three-year contract through the end of June 2017. Tressel and the board later agreed to a contract allowing some renewal options. Last fall, the contract was extended through June 2019.

The contract extension agreed upon Thursday does not include a pay raise. The university says his annual salary will remain at $300,000.
