MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - Forecasters say heavy rains could mean a weekend of flooding in south Alabama.
The National Weather Service says 2 to 4 inches of rain are possible in southern Alabama by Saturday night, creating the possibility of flash flooding near the coast.
Some roads could be covered with water as rivers and creeks rise out of their banks, and the weather service has issued a flash flood watch near the Florida line.
Heavy rains also are predicted in north Alabama, which forecasters say could get nearly 3 inches of rain. Temperatures will only being in the low 40s in the Tennessee Valley, making the day that much more unpleasant.
The weather service says snow flurries are possible late Sunday into Monday, but no major accumulations are expected.
