Roger Stone on Thursday said Rep. Adam Schiff, California Democrat, is a “con man” and “full of schiff,” according to media reports.
Mr. Stone’s comments were part of a fiery speech before a gathering of conservatives at the American Priority conference in Washington, D.C.
The appearance came just days after the longtime political operative, who has drawn scrutiny from special counsel Robert Mueller in the Russia probe, invoked his Fifth Amendment right to reject a request to testify before Congress.
Mr. Stone praised President Trump, according to media reports. But he took some harsh swipes at Mr. Schiff, who, in a television interview Sunday, said that Mr. Stone may have lied during previous Congressional testimony.
Mr. Schiff, the ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee and likely the next chair when the Democrats take over the House, said Mr. Stone’s testimony last year should be reviewed by Mr. Mueller to see if “perjury charges are warranted.”
“The congressman is full of schiff,” Mr. Stone told the crowd, according to media reports. He also said Mr. Schiff was “a con man.”
Prosecutors with Mr. Mueller’s team have focused on Mr. Stone’s alleged ties to Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, who released a stash of emails stolen from the Democratic National Committee ahead of the 2016 election.
