After losing to the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night, the Redskins are .500 for the first time since Week 5 and have descended in the NFL power rankings.
The Redskins, riding a three-game losing streak, are down everywhere, but some rankings have them lower than others. ESPN and CBS Sports have the Redskins ranked at 18th, while Sports Illustrated has the Redskins ranked 19th, one spot behind a 4-7-1 Green Bay Packers team that the Redskins beat in Week 3.
But SB Nation’s Ryan Van Bibber has the Redskins ranked dead last in the league.
SB Nation’s placement of the Redskins in the 32nd spot is the only time this season a losing team hasn’t occupied the lowest spot in its rankings.
“Washington is the worst team and will always be the worst team, whatever the record is,” Van Bibber wrote.
After leading the division in nearly every power rankings list a month ago, the Redskins find themselves behind the Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys in most rankings. The Redskins are three spots behind the Eagles in CBS Sports’ and NFL.com’s rankings, and 12 spots behind the Cowboys in CBS Sports’ and USA Today’s rankings.
The Redskins are still ahead of the New York Giants in most rankings, despite New York’s 30-27 win over the then-8-3 Chicago Bears. The Giants are 24th and 26th in NFL.com’s and ESPN’s rankings, which puts them six and eight spots behind the Redskins, respectively.
