President Trump called on Democrats to come back to Washington on Monday to vote for border security, hoping they’ll give him money for the wall he campaigned on building along the southern border.

The president shut down the government, demanding $5 billion for his border wall but Democrats have refused to meet the demand. The government has been closed for 10 days.

Members of Congress left Washington before Christmas with no deal in sight. They return to Washington later this week.

“I’m in the Oval Office. Democrats, come back from vacation now and give us the votes necessary for Border Security, including the Wall. You voted yes in 2006 and 2013. One more yes, but with me in office, I’ll get it built, and Fast!” the president tweeted.

He also took issue with Democratic lawmakers saying a wall doesn’t work.

“They say it’s old technology - but so is the wheel. They now say it is immoral- but it is far more immoral for people to be dying!” he tweeted.
