PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia Eagles lead 14-13 at halftime over the Washington Redskins, but that doesn’t even begin to tell the whole story.
In a wild first half, the Redskins remain in the game despite playing with their third-string quarterback in Mark Sanchez. Sanchez replaced Colt McCoy, who suffered a right leg injury near the end of the first quarter and did not return for the next drive.
On Sanchez’s first play of the game, he handed the ball off to running back Adrian Peterson — who ripped off a 90-yard touchdown run. The burst was not only Peterson’s career-long, but the longest run in Redskins’ franchise history.
Later on, Sanchez helped lead a nine-play, 46-yard drive that resulted in a 47-yarder from Dustin Hopkins.
Washington’s defense, however, has had trouble stopping the Eagles. Philadelphia quarterback Carson Wentz has 159 yards at the half.
