President Trump touted on Monday a “very strong” relationship with Chinese President Xi Jinping after the two leaders reached a trade truce over the weekend and predicted it will lead to further cooperation on halting an arms race between China, Russia and the U.S.

Mr. Trump and Mr. Xi agreed Sunday to a 90-day armistice on the mounting trade war that would halt plans for the latest round of tariffs in exchange for China purchasing a large number of American products to cut into U.S. trade deficit.

On Monday, the president tweeted that U.S. farmers “will be a very BIG and FAST beneficiary” of the trade truce.

“They intend to start purchasing agricultural product immediately. We make the finest and cleanest product in the World, and that is what China wants,” he tweeted.
