BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Jalen Perry scored 23 points and UAB rebounded from its first home court loss to beat Division II Arkansas Monticello, 75-67 in its final non-conference game of the season Saturday afternoon.

A half-court buzzer beater by Perry was waved off to preserve Troy’s 74-73 victory December 21. The Blazers open Conference USA play Thursday when they play host to Florida Atlantic.

Darnell Wright scored at the basket to pull the Boll Weevils within two points, 32-30 at intermission, and Austin Hardy’s 3-point play put them ahead in the opening seconds of the second half, 33-32. Keelin Jackson hit a 3 to get Arkansas Monticello even again at 56-56 with 8:10 left, but Jeremiah Bell and Wil Butler each hit two free throws to put UAB back in front for good.

Perry knocked down 5 of 7 shots from beyond the arc and Makhtar Gueye added 11 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.

Hardy finished 5 of 9 from deep and had 21 points for Arkansas Monticello.
