NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A staffer at a New Orleans-area health center is now president-elect of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
Sophia L. Thomas works at the Kenner facility of the Daughters of Charity Health Centers.
After a one-year term as president-elect of the national organization, she will become its president. The organization says Thomas has been a nurse practitioner for 22 years, and has been a regional director for the national group and president of the Louisiana Association of Nurse Practitioners.
For the past two years, she has been with Daughters of Charity Health Centers. They offer affordable health care for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors at nine community health centers throughout greater New Orleans.
