DECATUR, Ga. (AP) - Residents in one Georgia county will soon see improvements to its transit system.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority announced Friday that it will invest $1 million for bus shelters and upgraded benches and train station bathrooms throughout DeKalb County.
MARTA will add 70 bus shelters each year for the next four years bringing the total new shelters to 350, DeKalb officials said in a news release. This past year, MARTA provided 20 new shelters to the tune of $400,000.
The county and MARTA have had a longstanding relationship, including their partnership with Keep DeKalb Beautiful, a non-profit created to promote cleanliness and beautification in the county.
