CNN’s Wolf Blitzer says Democrats support policies for better border security — he just won’t provide specifics.

“The Situation Room” involved a heated discussion Thursday evening on a possible government shutdown when senior Trump administration adviser Stephen Miller arrived. At issue was Mr. Blitzer’s assertion that “Democrats support border security. They don’t support $5 billion for a wall.”

“The Democrats all say they support border security,” he insisted.

Mr. Miller then noted that there is a distinct difference between political rhetoric and actions.

“Could you identify Wolf for me, some of the kinds of border security you’re saying the Democrats support?” Mr. Miller asked, the Daily Wire reported. “With all due respect, Wolf, they voted against Kate’s law, they voted against ending sanctuary cities, they voted against deporting MS-13 gang members, they voted against deporting violent criminals, they voted time and time again against a physical border wall to stop illegal entry. Where is the evidence you keep asserting they’re for border security?”

“I want to move on to another sensitive issue,” Mr. Blitzer replied.

President Trump warned lawmakers Friday that the government will shut down for “a very long time” if the Senate does not pass a spending bill that includes over $5 billion for border security.

“The Democrats, whose votes we need in the Senate, will probably vote against Border Security and the Wall even though they know it is DESPERATELY NEEDED,” Mr. Trump tweeted. “If the Dems vote no, there will be a shutdown that will last for a very long time. People don’t want Open Borders and Crime! The Democrats now own the shutdown!”
