SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - New York City, Syracuse and four other New York localities are among the more than two dozen U.S. cities hosting an annual winter outdoor music event.
Organizers of Make Music Winter say live music performances and parades are being held Friday, the winter solstice, in 26 cities across the nation.
The events presented by the National Association of Music Merchants Foundation are aimed at getting people of all ages and musical abilities to gather outside to sing, play and march in public places.
Other New York communities participating include Briarcliff Manor and Ossining in Westchester County, Lockport in Niagara County and Rochester.
The events include a bell-ringing performance in Lockport, an electric guitar parade in New York City and a Brazilian percussion parade in Rochester.
