LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Authorities say police officers in Little Rock shot and wounded a man after a vehicle rammed into a patrol vehicle.
According to police, officers were checking cars in a Motel 6 parking lot in west Little Rock when they noticed a suspicious vehicle. Interim Police Chief Hayward Finks says that when officers approached the vehicle, the driver went in reverse and crashed into a police unit.
Finks says officers fired multiple shots into the vehicle, striking one of the three people who were inside. Finks says the injured man was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
None of the officers were injured.
Authorities say the officers were checking the cars because of a rash of recent break-ins.
