PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Rhode Island’s unemployment rate held steady at 3.8 percent in November.
The state Department of Labor and Training said Thursday that the November rate was unchanged from October, and was one-tenth of a percentage point higher than the national rate.
The state’s rate was seven-tenths of a percentage point lower than November 2017.
The data show the number of Rhode Island-based jobs is down by 900 from October, to 502,700. The job count is up 5,100 from November 2017.
Democratic Gov. Gina Raimondo says the current unemployment rate is the lowest since May 1989, and it’s the third consecutive month it’s been below 4 percent.
She says the state has strengthened its economy by training more workers, supporting small businesses, bringing in new companies and fixing aging infrastructure.
