ASHBURN — Wide receiver Josh Doctson and tight end Vernon Davis are among the nine Redskins questionable for Saturday’s game against the Tennessee Titans.
Coach Jay Gruden said Thursday that Doctson is dealing with lower back spasms, while Davis is in concussion protocol.
Wide receiver Maurice Harris (concussion), linebacker Ryan Anderson (hamstring), defensive lineman Tim Settle (pec), tackle Austin Howard (hip), offensive lineman Ty Nsekhe, guard Tony Bergstrom (ankle) and defensive end Matt Ioannidis (shin) are also listed as questionable.
Gruden said Doctson’s back spasm occurred Wednesday after practice. The wide receiver, who has missed one game this season, did not practice Thursday.
“This morning, I think he developed a little bit of a [type of] deal, so he’s been in treatment all day,” Gruden said. “We’ll see how he’s doing tomorrow.”
As for Davis, Gruden said the tight end started to show concussion symptoms this week and was put in the protocol. Davis was hit in the head during Sunday’s win against the Jacksonville Jaguars and examined but re-entered the game.
If Davis is unable to play, Jeremy Sprinkle would be the team’s No. 1 tight end with Jordan Reed (ankle) also out.
Davis has 25 catches for 367 yards and two touchdowns this season.
“This concussion protocol stuff is out of my hands,” Gruden said. “Once I know that they’re in it, they have to pass the tests, then be cleared for practice and all that stuff. So, we’ll have to wait and see on that one.”
