BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - A more than $30 million project underway in Buffalo will provide affordable and supportive housing in a neighborhood on the city’s east side.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Wednesday that the Jefferson Avenue Apartments will include nearly 90 affordable apartments in two buildings, with 16 units set aside for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities. The Democrat says more than 16,000 square feet of commercial space will be available on the ground floors of each building.
Jefferson Avenue is near several college campuses, Buffalo’s medical campus and the downtown area.
The project joins others that are aimed at revitalizing Buffalo’s east side, including the redevelopment of the long-vacant site of the Buffalo Forge Co. into residential homes and retail space.
