RENO, Nev. (AP) - The driver of a recreational vehicle who may have been suicidal collided with a freight train on the west edge of Reno and was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Reno police said no one else was hurt when the eastbound Union Pacific train hit the RV shortly before noon Tuesday near West 4th Street.

Officer Travis Warren says the driver whose name has not been released apparently drove around the crossing guard before the RV was struck by the train.

He told the Reno Gazette-Journal officers had been trying to locate the driver earlier after receiving information he was suicidal.

The train did not derail but Woodland Avenue was closed near West 4th and train traffic was delayed while a detour was established on a secondary line.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
