BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Aviation officials have delayed the release of a sound map showing how noise from incoming F-35 fighter jets could affect the areas around Burlington International Airport.
Airport Deputy Director of Aviation Nic Longo says the map was pushed back from its original Dec. 17 deadline because they needed radar data from the Federal Aviation Administration.
The Burlington Free Press reports the airport’s sound map will be released in February 2019.
The planes are due to arrive at the Air National Guard Base at the airport in late 2019.
Military reports show the planes will be significantly louder than the F-16 jets they will replace.
The Vermont National Guard says it will continue to work with the community and airport to mitigate noise impact.
