HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal is pushing for legislation that he says will end “predatory price gouging” on lifesaving medications.

The Connecticut Democrat plans to visit Hartford Hospital on Monday to discuss the Curbing Unreasonable Rises and Excessively High Drug Prices Act.

Blumenthal says the act would prohibit unjustified drug price increases and give the Department of Health and Human Services authority to block such increases and reimburse consumers.

Blumenthal says he’ll be joined at the hospital by a Connecticut resident and glioblastoma survivor, who will discuss the price increases in drugs needed to treat brain tumors.

He says price gouging has real impacts on Americans’ health.
