Jail knew drug use history of officer facing drug charges

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - Records show a Maine corrections officer facing drug charges had disclosed prior drug use when applying for the job.

The Portland Press Herald reports that 23-year-old David Glazener’s attorney deferred comment.

Glazener faces up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine for one count of drug trafficking. Glazener is on unpaid leave from his job at the Cumberland County Jail.

Cumberland County Sheriff Kevin Joyce said Glazener may have sold drugs to former inmates but that there’s no evidence he distributed drugs inside the jail.

The newspaper’s Freedom of Access Act request shows Glazener disclosed in his 2016 corrections officer application that he had used cocaine, marijuana and prescription pain medicine that wasn’t prescribed to him. Glazener also said he had sold marijuana “a couple of times.”
