CROMWELL, Conn. (AP) - The superintendent and assistant superintendent of a Connecticut town’s school system have been put on leave after an anonymous letter alleging misconduct.

Cromwell School Board Chairman Mike Camilleri says the single-page letter that alleged misconduct by Superintendent John T. Maloney Jr. has prompted an investigation by the board. The nature of the alleged misconduct was not disclosed.

Both Maloney and Assistant Superintendent Krista Karch have been placed on paid administrative leave.

Through their attorneys, both Maloney and Karch denied any misconduct.

Camilleri says the letter does not involve any allegation of wrongdoing involving students.

Camilleri said Wednesday that the board does not want to rush the investigation, being conducted by an independent law firm, but hoped it would be done before the holidays.
