Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh announced Wednesday that Joe Flacco will be active for next Sunday’s game, but Lamar Jackson would remain the team’s starting quarterback.
The announcement likely marks the official end of the Flacco era in Baltimore, a moment many saw coming when the Ravens drafted Jackson in the first round of last April’s draft.

Jackson won his first three games as a starting quarterback. Last Sunday, they lost to the AFC-leading Kansas City Chiefs in overtime. In those starts, Jackson averaged 150 passing yards and 84 rushing yards per game, throwing for three touchdowns and three interceptions and scoring twice on the ground.
The rookie out of Louisville won the 2016 Heisman Trophy.
Flacco, who led the Ravens to win Super Bowl XLVII, missed four games with a hip injury. He is 33 and his contract is supposed to run through the 2021 season, though he could be cut this offseason.
The Ravens play the Buccaneers this Sunday. At 7-6, Baltimore is just a half-gam out of first place in the AFC North.
