Singer Miley Cyrus promoted her new single this week by sporting a “Protect Kids Not Guns’ T-shirt at Electric Lady Studios in New York City.
The pop star whose recent “Nothing Breaks a Heart” video features priests in a strip club switched gears from religion to gun control this week. Ms. Cyrus shared her anti-gun messaging with more than 70 million followers on Instagram and another 40 on Twitter in conjunction with a recording session in the Big Apple.

Billboard.com noted Monday that “her political opinions have usually been kept out of the spotlight,” although she did perform at the March For Our Lives rally in Washington, D.C., after the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida.
The 26-year-old joined protesters with a “Never Again” sign after her March 24 performance.
