President Trump said Tuesday that he’d use the military to build the border wall to circumvent Democratic opposition.

“If the Democrats do not give us the votes to secure our Country, the Military will build the remaining sections of the Wall,” he wrote on Twitter. “They know how important it is!”

In the early morning tweetstorm, Mr. Trump stressed that sections of the wall have been renovated or newly constructed, but Democrats are still withholding the funding to continue building along the border.

“Despite the large Caravans that WERE forming and heading to our Country, people have not been able to get through our newly built Walls, makeshift Walls & Fences, or Border Patrol Officers & Military,” he wrote, “A Great Wall would be, however, a far easier & less expensive solution.”

The president’s comments come as he is slated to meet with Democratic leaders House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer Tuesday morning to see what deal they can reach on border security funding.
