WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - A Delaware judge has ordered a new trial for a New York man convicted of killing another man at a strip club.

The judge on Monday granted Lamott Matthews’ request for a new trial. The judge agreed that incorrect comments made by a prosecutor in closing arguments to the jury about what witnesses had said deprived Matthews of his right to a fair trial.

Matthews, from the Bronx, New York, was accused of fatally shooting 35-year-old William Brown of Wilmington in 2015 after an argument at the former Gold Club just outside Wilmington.

Matthews was arrested in New York City three months after the shooting. The club was permanently shut down a month later after being declared a nuisance by state officials and failing to make required changes.
