The Washington Nationals will play a game broadcast exclusively on Facebook Watch for the second time in as many months.
Their game against the Atlanta Braves Thursday at 1 p.m. at Nationals Park will not be televised anywhere, only streamed on the social media platform. Like July’s game between the Nationals and Pittsburgh Pirates, the stream is free, but a Facebook account is required to access it.
The difference this time around is the weight of the matchup. The Braves and Nationals are part of a three-team race to win the National League East, and Washington is very much in the mix sitting six games behind first-place Philadelphia.
The Nationals and Braves split a doubleheader Tuesday and will play again on ESPN’s “Wednesday Night Baseball.” They make the jarring shift from ESPN to Facebook the next day.
The Nationals are 0-1 all-time in games streamed on Facebook Watch. They lost to Pittsburgh 2-0 on July 11. Dan Kolko, F.P. Santangelo, Scott Braun and Mark DeRosa will head up Thursday’s play-by-play and commentary.
