In addition to maligning white people on Twitter, newly hired New York Times op-ed writer Sarah Jeong also ripped police, men and even the newspaper’s own columnists.

Her numerous anti-cop tweets began in 2014 and appeared as recently as December 2017, when she tweeted “f—- the police,” and not for the first time, according to a compilation by the Daily Caller.

Others included “cops are a—holes” in November 2015. Eight months later, she asked, “If we’re talking big sweeping bans on sh— that kills people, why don’t we ever ever ever ever talk about banning the police?”

 

 

Ms. Jeong also tweeted frequently about killing men in 2014 and 2015 with statements such as “kill more men” and “kill all the men,” as well as “*whispers* I’m likely to actually kill zero men in my lifetime.”

 

 

The Times defended Thursday its hiring of Ms. Jeong as its lead opinion writer on technology after the emergence of more than a dozen racially charged tweets, such as “[d]umbass f-ing white people, “white men are bullsh—,” and “f—- white women lol.”

The newspaper said her anti-white tweets were a reaction to “frequent online harassment,” but insisted that she now recognizes that “this approach only served to feed the vitriol we too often see on social media.”

“She regrets it, and the Times does not condone it,” said the NYT statement.

 

 

The newspaper has yet to comment on her spate of anti-police and anti-male blasts, nor on tweets slamming prominent New York Times writers, which were unearthed by Breitbart.

In April 2017, she criticized the newspaper’s “horrible columnists” after years of taking swipes at David Brooks, Thomas Friedman, Nicholas Kristof and Paul Krugman.

Her comments included “Guys, what drugs do you think Krugman does,” “Brooks is an absolute nitwit too,” and “A just god would not allow Tom Friedman to keep talking.”

Among those coming to her defense was the Verge, where she works as a senior writer. The online publication called her “an excellent colleague, a formidable thinker, and a fine human being” while excoriating the “widespread campaign of harassment” directed at Ms. Jeong.

“[T]his abusive backlash is dishonest and outrageous,” said the Verge in a Thursday statement.

The New Yorker’s Helen Rosner unloaded on the “fragile racist misogynists” criticizing Ms. Jeong, while ThinkProgress condemned the “ridiculous outrage over Sarah Jeong’s old tweets.”

 

 

Meanwhile, Donald Trump Jr. joined the chorus of critics accusing the New York Times of holding a racial double-standard.

“Imagine if she said the same thing about Hispanics, imagine she said the same thing about black people. People would be losing their minds,” the president’s eldest son said on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Saturday. “It would be outrage.”
