ORONO, Maine (AP) - A University of Maine professor who was previously cleared in a sexual harassment investigation has been placed on paid leave again amid a separate investigation into his conduct.

The Bangor Daily News reports the human resources investigation into English professor Robert “Tony” Brinkley centers on a complaint that he failed to report an incident that was shared with him by an anonymous student.

Brinkley was placed on leave in January after two female graduate students filed sexual harassment complaints.

He was allowed to return in June after the university found he didn’t violate school policy.

Brinkley said Thursday he was pleased to have been cleared earlier. He says he is now waiting to see what’s next.

Brinkley has taught at UMaine since 1983.
