AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - Two candidates in Maine’s congressional race have stepped up attacks against each other over their political ads.
The Sun Journal reports Democrat Jared Golden hit out at a Maine GOP ad posted on Facebook, saying it was a “misleading attack” on his military service.
The ad included a quote where the candidate said he was happy some people don’t associate him with his military experience anymore.
U.S. Rep. Bruce Poliquin responded that Golden’s ad saying he would throw the incumbent overboard was insensitive to the fact that his wife and father-in-law drowned in a riptide.
Golden’s campaign says they won’t run the ad again after it ends the scheduled appearances.
Golden and Poliquin face two other opponents in the election Nov. 6.
