HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy says his administration is appealing the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s decision to deny federal assistance to certain communities and individual homeowners affected by recent storms that included four tornadoes.
The Democrat said Thursday that appeals had been filed asking FEMA to reverse its decision denying individual assistance to homeowners in New Haven and Fairfield counties.
His office is also appealing FEMA’s denial of public and individual assistance to the towns of Bridgewater, New Milford and Roxbury. All three communities are located in Litchfield County and sustained significant damage from the May 15 storms, which were blamed for two deaths.
Malloy’s appeals come days after FEMA approved a request for public assistance for New Haven and Fairfield counties, which will help affected state agencies and municipalities.
