President Trump on Friday endorsed Tennessee gubernatorial candidate Bill Lee after he secured the GOP nomination Thursday night.

Mr. Lee edged out Rep. Diane Black, an establishment Republican, for the nomination. He leaned into that angle, marketing himself as the “only conservative outsider” in the running.

“I am a man who is not a politician, but I do have a vision for Tennessee to lead this nation,” Mr. Lee said in his victory speech.

Mr. Lee now faces a fight from Democrat Karl Dean for the governorship. Elections will be held on Nov. 6.
