Green Bay Packers and quarterback Aaron Rodgers are finalizing a four-year contract extension worth between $176 million and $180 million, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.

When the elite quarterback signs the final paperwork, he will become the highest-paid player in NFL history; $67 million will be paid to Rodgers before the end of 2018, Schefter said.

Rodgers, 34, is approaching 40,000 career passing yards and is already 10th in league history with 313 passing touchdowns. He led the Packers to win Super Bowl XLV, where he was named the game’s MVP, but that was his only Super Bowl appearance in 14 seasons.

Rodgers played only seven games in 2017 due to a collarbone injury that required 13 screws.

Rodgers replaces Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan as the league’s highest-paid player. He had two years remaining on his contract, so the extension locks him in until he is 40 years old.
