MADISON, Wis. (AP) - One of Tony Evers’ top advisers from the state education department is taking a leave of absence to join his campaign for governor.

The Evers campaign on Tuesday announced staff additions that come two weeks after he won the Democratic primary. He faces Republican Gov. Scott Walker in November.

One of those joining the campaign is Jeff Pertl . He is taking a leave from the state Department of Public Instruction where he’s worked as a senior adviser under Evers for almost a decade. He will work as policy director for the Evers campaign.

In 2006, Pertl managed then U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin’s re-election campaign.

Evers announced a number of other staff additions, including a deputy campaign manager, deputy political director and others. More staff announcements were promised for later this week.
