Jemele Hill has been bought out of her lucrative ESPN contract according to a report from James Miller, a pop culture and media analyst and author.

Hill became a lightning rod at the cable sports network after multiple reprimands and a suspension for her increasingly critical political comments directed at President Donald Trump and in support of athletes using their positions to protest American policies during the national anthem.

After months of harsh criticism of Trump and his supporters on Twitter last year Hill was warned and reprimanded by ESPN to cease and desist as the network became increasingly sensitive to charges that they had become overtly political in their coverage of on and off the field sports topics.

Then in September, she tweeted that Donald Trump was a “white supremacist.”

This resulted in a suspension with ESPN delivering a statement on the matter:

In January Hill was removed from her daily broadcasting duties and relegated to online content for ESPN.com.

Hill was reportedly earning $2.5 million per year.
