DUNEDIN, Fla. (AP) - A Florida sheriff’s office corporal has been fired after being arrested for driving under the influence.
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded after Corp. James Miller struck a tree and utility pole early Saturday morning in Dunedin. Deputies said Miller had slightly slurred speech, glassy eyes and smelled of alcohol.
Officers performed a field sobriety test and Miller did poorly. A breath test showed he had a blood-alcohol level of .124. That’s above the legal limit of .08.
Miller had worked with the department since 2001.
Miller was arrested and released on $500 bond. Jail records don’t list an attorney for him.
