President Trump accused the press of ignoring his achievements on the international stage on Thursday.
Mr. Trump touted his relationships with North Korea and Russia during his one-on-one interview with Fox News’ Ainsley Earhadrt, but accused 80 percent of the media of misrepresenting the meetings.
“If I do something well, it’s not reported, other than in the 20 percent,” he said.
The president said the press could only criticize the fact that he met with Chairman Kim Jong Un, a fact he touted as something the two previous administrations didn’t achieve.
“This one is tougher than the father. And I say that with great respect,” Mr. Trump said.
Mr. Trump accused the media of having different standards for his meeting with Mr. Kim compared to his summit with President Putin. The press slammed him for being too tough on North Korea but too soft on Russia, he said.
He also complained that the media focused on the insults he lobbed at fellow NATO leaders and said they ignored the “hundreds of billions of dollars” he claimed to secure from member states.
“I got killed by the fake news. They wanted me to go up and punch him [Putin] in the face,” he said. “I want to get along with Russia. I want to get along with everybody.”
