San Francisco 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman is not like some NFL players who don’t want to hear about fans’ fantasy football teams. In fact, Sherman is entering the business himself.

Sherman announced he is launching a site called Daily Number that will run daily fantasy sports contests in 23 states.

Unlike standard DFS sites like DraftKings and FanDuel, Daily Number will set an amount of points (known as the “daily number”) that players must eclipse with a seven-player team. But the more “superstars” a player chooses for his or her team, the lower the payout if they beat the daily number, via a roster rating system.

“I’ve been pitched numerous DFS opportunities, but nothing has even come close to comparing to Daily Number,” Sherman said in a statement. “I’m extremely excited to be a founding partner and look forward to playing an active role in helping the company grow during this very dynamic time in our industry.”

Sherman is co-founding the site with CEO Tom McAuley.
