The beautiful 20-year-old Mollie Tibbetts is dead, allegedly murdered by an illegal immigrant, 24, who was supposed to be in Mexico but was instead flouting U.S. law and order and federal regulations and living and working for the last few years inside America’s borders.

And Nancy Pelosi wants Dreamers to know they haven’t run out of time to apply for their renewals. Oh, the utter insensitivity of it all.

You’d think Democrats, with murder in the midst, might now want to tighten the borders a bit, yes? No.

Tibbetts, to them, is a too-bad moment — a bump in the road called Amnesty.

Either they’re being quiet, or they’re busy being callous.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s Twitter feed had this to say about Tibbetts:

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s said this:

Those aren’t misprints. The Democratic Party’s highest ranking congressional members had no tweeted words of comfort, no Twitter sayings of solace, no posted expressions of sympathy at all to offer up the Tibbetts family, never mind the citizens of the country at-large who are now, once again, struggling to understand a senseless act of murder tied to open border madness.

Pelosi, right around the time Tibbetts’ body was being discovered, did tweet this, though: “Important message for #DREAMers: if your DACA expired on or after September 5, 2016, you may submit a DACA renewal application. Apply with USCIS.” And then she helpfully included the application link.

Callous doesn’t describe.

But those on the left who are talking about Tibbetts — well, maybe they shouldn’t.

This CNN sentence aptly sums how the left is showing its concern: “Democrats and immigration advocates have said that by focusing on outlier criminal cases, Republicans and Trump are distorting the fact that immigrants are no more prone to criminal acts than the native-born population — and some studies have found they are actually less likely to commit crimes.”

Memo to left: A murdered college student isn’t an outlier or a distortion.

The CNN story contains a quote from amnesty activist Erika Andiola, who took to Twitter to express her views of Tibbetts’ suspected muderer.

“The killer must be brought to justice,” Andiola tweeted. “Let’s also remember that this is a crime committed by an individual, NOT a community. Of course, there will be some trying to politicize this tragedy. At moments like this, we need leaders who bring us together and move us forward together, not those who exploit tragedy to further divide us. This murder DOES NOT represent me & my community. DON’T GO THERE.”

The sane mourn; the leftists go into panic mode to save their political hides.

Meanwhile, Steny Hoyer, Democratic Whip, who also didn’t speak directly to Tibbetts on his Twitter feed, writes this: “Our people deserve a government that works for them, that isn’t mired in corruption and mismanagement, and that is composed of men and women who do not see themselves as above the law but as its faithful guardians.”

Sound words; wise words. Now if Democrats could only put into practice what they preach at the borders, maybe the people of whom Hoyer so fondly refers wouldn’t have to spend so much time in mourning over their murdered.
