FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - President Donald Trump plans to campaign in Kentucky ahead of the midterm elections.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reports the White House announced Tuesday that Trump plans to visit Kentucky sometime in the next six weeks. Officials did not say who the president would campaign with or where he would appear. But Kentucky is home to one of the most closely watched congressional races in the country.

Republican U.S. Rep. Andy Barr is running for re-election against Democrat Amy McGrath, a retired fighter pilot. The race has attracted national attention as Democrats have targeted the seat as key to their efforts to win back control of the House of Representatives.

In a news release, McGrath said Trump’s visit is an effort to save Barr’s “unpopular re-election campaign.”
