Billionaire Democratic donor Tom Steyer on Thursday shamed Senate Democrats and the Washington establishment for not embracing his quest to impeach President Trump.

Speaking at the Netroots Nation convention in New Orleans, Mr. Steyer said Mr. Trump is “unfit for office” and it is long past time for Democrats to join the 5.5 million people that want Washington to initiate the process of giving him the boot.

“I don’t see the Democratic establishment doing anything real to stop him,” Mr. Steyer, founder of NextGen America, told the crowd of liberal activists. “They are not willing to face a devastating and obvious truth about this president — that he is wildly corrupt and that we are well past the threshold to kick him out of office.”

“Not a single person in the Senate Democratic caucus has shown the common sense or the sense of right or wrong to support impeachment — not one,” he said, warning that Democrats are only willing to give the push lip service.

“The establishment Democrats are going to come here to speak to you guys, but they won’t take an actual step, a real move to reel in a reckless, dangerous and lawless president,” he said.

Mr. Steyer said Democrats agree with his impeachment calls behind closed doors but are not willing to act publicly because they believe it is “bad politics” and it “will galvanize the Republicans.”

“My question for the Democratic establishment is how corrupt is too corrupt for you?” he said. “There is no sense of urgency among the Democratic establishment.”
