LANDOVER — The injury bug has struck the Washington Redskins’ running back room again.

Samaje Perine was ruled out for the rest of the Redskins’ preseason game against the New York Jets Thursday night with an ankle injury.

Perine made the most of his single play in the spotlight. He broke off a 30-yard run on the offense’s second drive, but then walked off the field gingerly.

The severity of this injury isn’t known yet, but it doesn’t look good one week after the team lost rookie Derrius Guice for the season with an ACL tear.

A third running back, Byron Marshall, also left the game for the Redskins to be evaluated for a lower leg injury.
