After three uneasy days of camp fights and chatter between certain ex-teammates, the Washington Redskins and New York Jets are taking their business relationship from the practice field to the stadium.
It’s the second week of preseason, and the Redskins have wrapped up camp in Richmond, Virginia. They spent the last three days practicing with their second preseason opponent, the Jets, including one Terrelle Pryor.
Pryor announced he will not play this week as he recovers from multiple offseason surgeries, including a previously-unreported broken ankle in the spring. So Redskins defenders won’t get a chance to land a good hit on him Thursday, but the game must go on.

What to watch for: Thursday could be the first time Redskins fans see first-round draft pick Daron Payne suit up for the team in a game situation. Payne missed part of camp with an ankle injury. … Then there’s the case of Alex Smith, who sat in the first week of preseason as Colt McCoy started against the Patriots. If he makes his first appearance in burgundy and gold, Smith will do so in front of a warm Washington crowd eager to see if he’ll be a better quarterback than Kirk Cousins was the last few years. … On the Jets’ side, coach Todd Bowles has kept a lid on which quarterback he plans to start and how long his players will play. Rookie Sam Darnold got the majority of first-team reps on certain days in Richmond, and Redskins cornerback Josh Norman came away impressed.
